Edward Jones, Scottrade make “best place to work” list

Edward Jones and Scottrade have a lot in common: They’re both locally based, private stock brokerage firms based in near West County.
Today, they’re also the two St. Louis companies on Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 best places to work. Jones ranked fourth and Scottrade ranked 58th.
The magazine gave Jones its high ranking partly because it gave 70 percent of its headquarters employees a 6.5 percent raise. The brokerage also opened 1,000 new U.S. offices last year.
Scottrade, which made the list for the first time, was praised for its willingness to hire young talent. The firm hires 200 college interns every year.
