Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has launched a new website designed to help investors learn about their savings and investments and avoid scams.

The Missouri Investor Protection Center includes financial education materials, investor alerts, a savings calculator, answers to frequent questions and a calendar of investor education events. It’s at www.MissouriSafeSavings.com.

Staff members from Carnahan’s office back up the website and investigate fraud. The Senior Investor Protection Unit investigated nearly 30 “free lunch” seminars across the state and also looked into other potention scams. A report on their work is available on the website.

What they need to do is really punish the criminals they catch stealing from people’s pockets. Many just go to another state after getting a mere slap on the wrist. Steal on the street and you have certain characteristics and your life is ruined. Steal big with a white collar and ceratin attributes and some other “legit” cheat with a protective enitity form of doing business hires you. Good idea though for consumer education.
