Marketing Alliance posts third quarter loss

The Marketing Alliance, a Maryland Heights company that provides services to independent life insurance agencies, reported a loss of $274,163, or 14 cents a share, in the third quarter ending Dec. 31.
The company said $814,330 in investment losses led to the loss. In the third quarter of the previous year, the company earned $156,957 or 8 cents a share. Operating income was up 74 percent, and margins were higher. Revenue was up 6 percent to $4.5 million.
Timothy M. Klusas, president, said in a statement the company is focusing on growth by offering agencies a broad array of life insurance and annuity products from a larger network of carriers.
