Singulex, Novartis team up to test drugs
Singulex Inc., which has its research base in St. Louis, said Thursday its biomarker technology is being used by Swiss drug giant Novartis AG in developing and evaluating pharmaceutical treatments.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Novartis will use Singulex’ Erenna system, which allows scientists to detect in blood samples minute amounts of proteins, known as biomarkers, that indicate the presence of disease. Biomarkers can reveal whether a drug is effective, or if it is toxic to the patient.
Singulex also said it is opening a facility in Paris to support its customers in Europe. The company’s headquarters is in Alameda, Calif. Its research and development operation employs about 10 people at the Center for Emerging Technologies business incubator in the Central West End.
