Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal lays off support staffers

The Chicago-based law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal is laying off six support staffers in its St. Louis office as part of a national layoff of 124 people including partners and associates.
The St. Louis office had 39 support staff prior to the cuts. It has 41 lawyers here, but none lost their jobs.
Sonnenschein’s Chicago office was the hardest hit by the cuts with real estate and litigation groups the two most affected areas. Sonnenschein is one of several large law firms to announce layoffs recently due to a slowdown in certain practice areas caused by the worsening economy.
