Chrysler’s Town & Country wins Ward’s interior of the year
While minivans often get no love for exterior appeal, today Chrysler’s Town & Country was given the Interior of the Year award among premium trucks at Ward’s Auto Interior Show in Detroit.
Editors from Ward’s Automotive Group selected the minivan from a fleet of seven top competitors in that segment, including the Infiniti EX35 and the Volkswagen Toureg sport utility vehicles. The Town & Country was the only non-SUV or cross utility vehicle in the bunch.
The U.S. version of Town & Country is made in Windsor, Ontario, while an export version is made in Fenton.
Judges spent two months evaluating the nominees. Here’s what they wrote about the Town & Country:
“Despite some very tough competition, the Chrysler Town & Country was named winner of the premium-priced truck category ($35,000-plus). The editors cited a feature-laden interior with elegant discreet ambient lighting, richly upholstered seats and Chrysler’s exclusive MYGIG infotainment system as reasons it outscored formidable nominees.
“Furthermore, the editors were impressed with swivel ‘n go seating that allows second-row passengers to face rearward safely and comfortably, an advancement editors say ‘portends true sociopolitical advancement.’ “
Of course, by that they mean it allows you play checkers without worrying about spilling the board.
