Edward Jones, the brokerage firm based in Des Peres, is opening its 10,000th branch Thursday in Southington, Conn.

The firm, which bases its business on individual brokers canvassing their neighborhoods, has 11,300 financial advisors in three countries. It has 7 million customers.

James Weddle, managing partner, called the new branch “a historic milestone that represents our increasing ability to serve individual investors from personal and convenient locations.”

In honor of the 10,000th branch, Edward Jones will donate $25,000 to Southington’s rails-to-trails initiatives, which converts old railroad lines into trails for use by the public.

Had to be a buzz kill but I wonder how long before they are sold or taken over and we lose thousands of more jobs in STL.

Privately held company. Won’t happen.

tigerfan is right, edward jones is structured as a partnership, meaning it is owned by the people who work there, more specifically about 3-400 people who wouldn’t sell out. the good news is that edward jones has always had good growth and should be in st louis for many years.
