Scottrade launches online community, opens Illinois branch

Scottrade Inc., the discount broker based in west St. Louis County, has launched a new social networking site aimed at its online traders.

The company also said it will open a second Metro East location at 6655 Edwardsville Crossing near Dierbergs. Eddie Lusk, a graduate of nearby Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, will manage the new location. Scottrade has six other locations in the St. Louis area.

Scottrade’s social networking site will allow customers to share ideas, strategies and tools,  engage in discussion groups and blogs or post videos. The site, launched in April with a small group of investors, is now open to any customer.

In a press release, Kristin, McDougall, customer education manager, said:

“Today’s investors and traders thrive on information. Scottrade’s Online Community is a whole new way for our customers to get information. Best of all, the information is coming from people who are just like them. Our customers find that very meaningful.”
