Hurricane Ike did not cause any major structural damage to MEMC Electronic Materials Inc.’s plant in Pasadena, Texas, the O’Fallon, Mo.-based company said today.
MEMC, which makes silicon wafers for electronic applications and solar batteries, shut down its plant Thursday in preparation of the pending Ike. Pasadena is about 15 miles southeast of Houston.
While Ike battered the Texas Gulf Coast, MEMC said it maintained power at the Texas facility throughout the storm and a crew that stayed on site was safe. The company restarted its plant over the weekend, according to a statement, but suppliers have notified MEMC of raw material delays.
“We are working closely with our suppliers to understand and overcome these delays,” Chief Executive Nabeel Gareeb said in the statement. “We are not updating guidance at this time.”
The company has said it expects to report revenues of $560 million to $620 million when it announces its third-quarter performance next month.
