Callaway 2Callaway 2

Just in time for the weekend: The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has posted on its Web site most of AmerenUE’s application for a Callaway 2 nuclear plant. It can be found here.

Most of the 8,000-page combined license application, or COLA as its known, is included and broken down into more than a dozen chapters, categorized by subject (General Information, Environmental Report, Emergency Plan, etc.).

A few notable details are missing, such as the projected cost. AmerenUE CEO Tom Voss has previously estimated the cost of Callaway 2 at $6 billion or more; perhaps $9 billion including financing.

AmerenUE won’t make a decision for at least a couple of years whether to build another nuke, but it’s going ahead with licensing to be eligible for federal incentives.

HI you know it pretty bad. When AMEREN POWER CO. decided to not send any line crew to help the people in texas or louisana hurricane. they told the power co. down there that only the contractors could go even thow the power co. ask for help. I hope and pray we don’t have a bad storm becouse the power co. won’t come here to help and i don’t blame them. they ok and sent 50 tree crew from mo. and 50 from Il. BUT HALF WAY THERE THEY ORDER THEM BACK. DON’T KNOW WHY. but it’s sad the line men wanted to help and so did the tree crews but I gess ameren don’t want to help… if I ask I lose my job…. I guess it is politics.. Just like NELSON TREE CO. can bring in 20 to 30 illegal aliens ang justifiit saying there is no one wanting to work. I guess someone paying someone off. Plese don’t give my name becouse my husband will lose his job and times are hard… someone needs to what is going on. with ameren and nelson tree co.

“Martha”, the blog “Rules of the Road” won’t let me post what I would like to about the rambling mess you posted. Suffice to say there were over one hundred thousand customers out of service after the same storm hit here. You want line crews in Texas or here restoring your power?

Martha, we had 140k+ people without power. if you would have looked at the outage’s the way I did, the whole covered area to the southeast of saint louis was a sea of red dots marking known outages. No, we did not get a hurricane in missouri/illinois, but we had damaging winds, power outages, trees uprouted and we needed our people here. Believe me, if you were a lineman or a tree trimer, there was no shortage of work.
If this happens again, you can watch the outages yourself by going to https://www2.ameren.com/outagemap/default.aspx?state=MO
If you can’t see itbecause your power is out, hopefully a lineman is in your area to restore it.
