AmerenUE: $24 million for business energy efficiency
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
From President Barack Obama down, energy efficiency seems to be the topic du jour these days as we look for ways to cut down on energy use. Whatever stimulus bill emerges from Congress is certain to include billions of dollars for businesses and homeowners who’d like to see lower utility bills.
AmerenUE, the St. Louis utility, is offering $24 million of incentives for businesses that make upgrades to use less electricity. This site has been established with rules, eligibility and other information.
Funds are available for non-residential customers who install equipment to reduce electricity use. A program for homeowners is expected later this year.

Good for Ameren! Now, just catch up to the 21st century and allow easy net metering, credits for grid-connected renewable power, sharing programs for insulation and efficiency, a focus on incremental renewable power….and you won’t need sixteen billion dollars and endless taxpayer subsidy for a new nuclear plant.
