Mallinckrodt in licensing deal for Exalgo

Covidien’s Mallinckrodt Inc. unit based in Hazelwood has acquired the licensing rights to Exalgo, an extended release formulation of hydromorphone, from a unit of Neuromed Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Exalgo, an opioid analgesic, is awaiting Food and Drug Administration approval. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Mallinckrodt will be responsible for marketing, sales and for regulatory filings post-FDA approval.
