Casey Doss

Casey Doss is back behind bars.

Last week, Doss, 19, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a car accident. Police said Casey ran off Westwood Drive and hit some trees in an April 9 crash that injured a passenger’s arm. Police later found Doss at his home in the 2700 block of Bromley Drive. They said Doss refused a blood alcohol test.

A year ago, I wrote about Doss, an O’Fallon, Mo., teenager who got into a deadly fight with his dad in February 2008.

Doss, then a senior at Francis Howell High School, had come home late after a night of drinking. His dad, Larry Doss, 58, confronted Casey about a noisy muffler on his car that was disturbing the neighborhood.

They started shoving each other, and both tumbled down the stairs. Casey punched his dad in the head several times.

Larry Doss’ brain began hemorrhaging internally. He had been taking Plavix, a blood thinner designed to prevent heart attacks.

The bleeding wouldn’t stop, and Doss died five days later at the hospital.

After his death, a pathologist with the St. Louis County medical examiner’s office said the drug would explain the large amount of bleeding around Doss’ brain.

Casey was charged with involuntary manslaughter, and in October, pleaded no contest. He was sentenced to five years’ probation for the crime.

In an interview last year, Casey Doss’ mother, Shirley Doss, blamed the attack, in part, on her son’s alcohol abuse.

“He’s just a good kid who made a bad mistake,” she said.

The state filed a motion Friday to revoke Casey Doss’ probation. A hearing to address his probation is set for April 20.

“A good kid who made a bad mistake”??? I know people make mistakes and I am a firm believer, in second chances. However, when you make a “bad mistake”, and alcohol is the cause, part of your lesson should be to NEVER AGAIN, DRINK! Anyone who hasn’t learned that lesson, (after such an experience),is a danger to ANYONE and EVERYONE around them.

This habitual violent offender needs to go away for a long, long time. There is too many human turds walking around out there.

Uh, look…A good kid wouldn’t punch his dad in the head. There were obviously issues going on if a 19 year old goes out and gets that drunk. A descent 19 year old would know not to make a ton of noise in his neighborhood and disrupt his neighbors. Why wasn’t his alcohol abuse an issue with his mother and why didn’t she get him counseling? Maybe she did, I don’t know the whole story…I think the military could do this boy some good. Give him structure and skills for a good job later in life…get to travel and learn some things about himself.
