Update: Wentzville school bus fight
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Wentzville school bus fight we told you about on Friday apparently started with an argument about St. Louis vs. New Orleans, officials said.
The middle school girls were fighting about which city was better, which prompted another fight between two boys on the bus. When the bus driver tried to intervene, she caught a blow or two. The studentsĀ are now facing school discipline and possible criminal charges. The driver is doing fine.

That’s what started this fight. My goodness, something is going on with these kids in Wentzville. My son is in 8th grade, currently suspended for 5 days for fighting at this same school. He was pushed and then punched in the face by a kid on the bus. Over a frickin eraser. The other kid accused my kid of throwing it at him, they had choice words for each other and the crap hit the fan. Turns out someone else did throw the eraser and that kid got suspended too. The bus driver had to pull over and everything. My kid is a honor student with a 3.8 grade point avg, ranks 44th out of his 8th grade class and then he pulls this crap. I understand they have a zero tolerance for fighting in schools, but what happens when your kid gets hit first, not once but twice before he hits back. Are they really expected to just get beat without defending themselves? When the kid started yelling at him for throwing the eraser he could have just let it go then, but he engaged in combat by yelling back. That’s what I stress out of the situation. I remind him they don’t give scholarships to kids who get suspended. Middle school seems to be the age of fighting.
Middle school seems to be the age of fighting??? Yikes. I guess you have never been in a middle school during the day. I teach at a middle school, and I have taught at a high school, too. I would have to say that the middle school kids are just as about aggressive compared to high school students BECAUSE THEY ARE KIDS. But, at the same time, fights do not just happen every day in every class.
There are many things that happen in a school district that are not published in a newspaper or website. It just happens that this story was published and now there is something wrong with kids in Wentzville.
If we wanted to just give exceptions to “zero tolerance,” we would have to give it to every one. Instead of getting on to a blog and posting a comment, talk to the building administrator about the concern and stop being in denial about the situation. Your kid was in a fight. The way you explain the situation it sounds like your kid instigated the situation. It takes two to tango my friend.
