Cops: 2 St. Louis men rob St. Charles man of $30k cash at gunpoint
The 20-year-old victim was carrying the dough because he had recently cashed a check from the sale of a 2-door Dodge Challenger. He knew his alleged attackers and was getting a ride home to St. Charles when they pulled the car over, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded he fork over three bundles of $10,000.
Curtis E. Selvey Jr., 17, of the 4000 block of Evans Avenue in St. Louis and Antonio R. Rice, 20, of the 4600 block of Kossuth Avenue in St. Louis, are charged with robbery, assault and armed criminal action.
When the victim tried to escape from the car, Rice fired several shots, hitting him twice, police say. The victim’s wounds weren’t life-threatening and Selvey and Rice drove off with the money.
Selvey was arrested and charged earlier this week, but Rice wasn’t in custody until Wednesday night when he was shot in an unrelated incident in St. Louis, police said. Rice’s injuries aren’t life threatening.
Selvey and Rice were jailed Thursday in St. Charles in lieu of a $500,000 cash-only bail each. If convicted, they could be sentenced to up to life in prison.

Now how dumb can people be?
All three of them are just idiots from the get go.
Why rob someone when your victim knows you, and why cash a check of that size, and then get a ride home like he did.
Bye bye little wannabe’s…bye bye…society will be better off with you behind bars.
What 20 year old has a $30k car that he owns free and clear? Do the police have record of who the check was from?
…”Selvey and Rice drove off with the money”…
Was this money recovered???
Why not include this info in the newsreport?
A 20 year old hanging out with thugs carrying 30K is his pocket, does that not have all the signs of drug money to anyone else? Give em life sentences or they’ll just be out doing the same thing again. I really can’t believe they actually hit the victim with their shots either, must have still been in the car with the shooters.
… cashed a check from the sale of a 2-door Dodge Challenger.
This particular money was not drug money but was car money as in from the sale of a automobile, how did you missed that detail claiming it to be drug money? (lol).
Don’t people who operate in drugs and other illegally activities deal in cash only, NO CHECKS as in accepting a check from anyone?
However, it is so sad however that these two young youths were planning robberies and even murder. I always say that parents or someone should read on a regular basis to boys from a very young age on, Proverbs Chapter 1.
No Walker I didn’t “missed” it. Never said the check was but how does a 20 year old obviously pay cash for the car because a bank would want that money to them to release the title if it was not.
