Ameristar to get philanthropy award

Ameristar Casino has pulled in the top corporate award this year from the St. Louis chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The casino firm, which has given almost $5 million to area charities in recent years, will be honored for the outstanding corporate philanthropic program at the group’s annual National Philanthropy Day awards event at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Louis Airport Hilton.
Among the recipients have been the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center, the Foundry Art Centre, the American Liver Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, SSM Healthcare and Special Olympics Missouri.
