Given the current economic outlook, school boards will probably face tough choices in the coming year.

For those who are up for the job, the first day of candidate filing for the April school board elections is Dec. 16 for most school districts in Missouri. Filing closes for all school districts on Jan. 20.

A candidate must be a citizen of the United States, a resident taxpayer of the district, a resident of Missouri for one year and at least 24 years old. Terms are three years.

Here are the members with terms that will expire in April on school boards in St. Charles County:

Fort Zumwalt: Mary Givens and Barbara Story.

Francis Howell: Mary Hodits and Ken Schaller.

Wentzville: Sherry Cox and Denise Hackman.

St. Charles: Mary Darting and Wayne Oetting.

Orchard Farm: Nancy Goeke and Fred Semke.

For more information on filing for seats in those districts, go to the school district’s web site or learn more about school board elections here.
