St. Charles home damaged in afternoon fire
A fire damaged a first-floor bedroom in a St. Charles home late this afternoon, the St. Charles Fire Department reports.
Firefighters were called to the 1.5-story house in the 1600 block of North Third Street about 4:10 p.m. Heavy fire showed from a first-floor bedroom window when they arrived three minutes later.
It took less than 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. It caused $50,000 worth of damage.
The cause is under investigation, but it appeared to be accidental, firefighters said. It started near a candle that may have been burning unattended.
Firefighters from the Pattonville Fire District and paramedics from the St. Charles County Ambulance District assisted the St. Charles Fire Department.

Well, uh, OK.
