…It occurred to me…
I was reading the Qu’ran, and I came across this,
“And do good unto [thy] parents. Should one of them, or both, attain to old age in thy care, never say “Ugh” to them, but [always] speak unto them with reverent speech, and spread over them the wings of thy tenderness…”
Upon reading this, I came to understand that it is indeed important to treat our parents with respect and dignity.
I myself have not always given my parents all the respect they deserve. Our parents sacrifice so much for us to be here today. Even though they have their moments, there is always a good explanation behind them. I believe we should always respect our parents and do our jobs as the offsprings!

Aroona Toor, 18, is a Senior at McCluer High School. She came to St Louis when her family immigrated to the United States in 1996. She is a honor student and also on the school tennis team and participates in soccer, drama and writing. She is a practicing Muslim, praying five times a day and finding time daily to read the Qur'an.
Aroona, thank you.
As a parent of a group of youths slightly older than you (my youngest is a college sophomore), I can also suggest that the attitude you’re showing is frequently not expressed by the typical 17 year old. But, as we age, we get it.
I’m reminded of a statement attributed to Mark Twain, “When I was 16, I thought my father was the stupidest man on the face of the earth. When I turned 25, I was amazed at how much he had learned.”
One of the best posts I’ve seen on this site. Even in the toughest of times, you know that parents try to do their best for their children. Parents are human too, and have many problems that they try to deal with while they raise their children. Sometimes, a parent needs a child to step in and give them support during tough times.
A wonderful post!
There is no better way to begin your journey than to embrace your parents.
Dear hs,
Thanks that means a lot to me! I guess I have already realized this all because my parents honestly are so hardworking and they just do so much and sacrifice so much, that I can’t even begain to give them my gratitude!
Thanks,
-Aroona
Dear think,
Thanks a lot for saying that, when I had first written this post, I thought it was one of my worst yet, but then I got this amazing feed back and it made me feel a whole lot better! Also my uncle helped me realize that when something is coming from the heart and mind, it is sometimes better than something well planned out and analyzed! Oh and you gave me a GREAT compliment … it means a lot! I really appreciate it! I hope my other blogs can compare!
Dear Another,
Thanks a lot for the good quote!
