You are borrowing the body you are currently in.

A picture of the soul exiting

I can’t quite remember when or who, but in the recent months, I was told that the body I’m currently occupying is being borrowed from GOD almighty, and it’s really important that I take care of it.

This statement has honestly been in my head for a long time! I can’t help it, this statement basically tells me and everyone that a human is nothing more than a soul. Our body is nothing but a disguise that distinguises us from any other beings.

This has affected the way I view myself.  It helps, this really isn’t me, and what I see in others, it really isn’t them! Thats scary! But there is a lesson to learn from all this, this is why we shouldn’t do drugs, smoke, or abuse our selves with anything that is harmful to us! This is the whole reason behind taking everything in moderation.

We all should remember we are borrowing something of GOD’s! We should really take care of it.. shouldn’t we?  We should all also remember that we have to face God in the life to come, and we have to have something to show for!

I’M jUST CURIOUS, WHAT COMES IN YOUR MIND AFTER THINKING ABOUT THIS A WHILE?

I’m curious as to why god hates amputees. All these supposed miracles, curing cancer, curing rare diseases, making blind people see, and not even one case of someone regrowing an arm or leg. Seems pretty asinine to me.

Do jews ever wonder what God is going to do to them for over 60 years of lying about the Holocaust and using it to extort money from every nation on Earth?

Raising someone from the dead isn’t good enough, you need to see an arm regrown, eh Tom? That’s like looking at the 630-foot tall Arch and complaining that there isn’t a five foot fountain underneath it…

Aroona I always thought of the body as part of the gift of life, which really is basically the same thing you are saying I guess. Either way, the bottom line is that life is precious and you should make the most of it and take care of what you have…

you have a job but you are NOT your job. you have a car but you are NOT your car. you have a body but you are NOT your body. everything is temporary…. house, job and even our bodies. Yes, you could say they are borrowed from God. Our body’s allow us to have experiences through the five senses so that we may learn from these expereinces and gain understandings. It’s the understandings that we build in ourselves that our souls take with it when the body is done. We should use our bodies to the fullest and highest good… use them as a vehicle to give and be open to receive. do not be defined by it and do not define others by it. treat it with care and respect as it is a gift and it holds your soul.

I agree, our body is ours to use as it is for millions of microbes. I would not say we are borrowing it, since we use it as part of the miracle of birth. Borrowing implies a choice we do not have.

We christians have the scripture of Luke 17:20-21, in the Bible. It says “The Kingdom of God is within you”. Do you have a comparable statement in the Qur’an?

Those of us who know the Kingdom of God is within you can never really be mad at you without being mad at God. God bless you.

The contents of the Quran are constantly challenged by the Talmud, the jews Most Holy Book is never questioned and contains FAR more inciteful statements than the Quran or The Bible.

I would take it one step further. While God has blessed you with your body and self (and thus you shouldn’t abuse the gifts given to you); focusing on the blessings that God has given others is important as well.

Love God vertically, and love people horizontally. After all, if that body is a gift for everyone (not just yourself) then we should strive to help others take care of their gifts and blessings.

I have a bad back, my teeth came in crooked, and my vision was awful until I had Lasik. If my body is a one-of-a-kind loaner on loan from an all-powerful God, surely he could have done better than that.

Accepting the premise that we are beings of spirit and body, our bodies are more than disguises; they are the tools we use to work our purpose in the world, whatever we determine that purpose to be.

I believe God created the fundamentals of the universe and set physics in motion - and is in all of it. It has never been, and cannot be separated from Him. My body was created by the same laws of biology that control the plants and other animals; my soul was created by God. He has loved my soul forever, but my body was and will return to dust. No matter what I do, I can’t change either of those realities.

Take care of your body because you want to live a long, useful, and healthy life - not because “God’ll get you” if you don’t.

Good thoughts! Thank you.

I will share one distinction for me about the body being a disguise.

I would say, as created, it is a full self expression of who we are. With time we transform it with what it is for each of us to be a human being in this world.

There is no hiding our view of ourselves as represented through our bodies, anymore than we can hide from God. It is our canvas, and as such can not be made wrong except by ourselves.

In our bodies resides our confidence and our tools for full self expression.

Ooops, another one. I am no so sure about the borrowing idea. As a gift from God it is not of my making, but it is mine to be responsibile for and care for. I believe it is for eternity, and not “borrowed” to be returned. God has the power to take it from me, and his love of me will not allow him to forget me and give it to another. It is unique to me.

Wow, some hateful uneducated bigot learned how to use a keyboard. Too bad he doesn’t know how to read, because his hate is rather poorly placed in this forum…well, you can’t expect too much of the ignorant.

More on-topic, I agree in the temporary state of the physical, but believe there is more of a connection between the biological and spiritual. That being said, the take home of being a good steward of it remains.
