Fox News is devoting two hours tonight, 7:00PM,  Central Standard Time, Saturday, August 30, 2008 to an encore of the Saddleback Church Civic Forum which first aired earlier this month.

Why watch?

(1) Rick Warren’s questions are inspired and far-reaching;

(2) The answers from both candidates are quick and telling;

(3) There is no Nurse Ratched looking at a stop watch;

(4) “Above my pay grade” is a phrase that will go down in history.

I’m finished with this blog.
I was so excited about a place to “civilly” discuss religious, spiritual, and theological issues.

I guess that won’t happen here.

darn.

So a civil political debate on faith and religion isn’t an appropriate topic for a blog called “civil religion”? Maybe Fox News has a political agenda in a re-broadcast, but that doesn’t mean the debate itself isn’t fit for civil discussion.

So, the moderators are going to allow Sherry Tyree and other propagandists to take over the “Civil Religion” blog. Being neither civil nor about religion I think I’ll pass on this blog and let Sherry Tyree have a forum but deny her my portion of the audience. There are enough places for politics. The moderators of this blog should take back control. I don’t want to see political propaganda from the right or the left here. It is not appropriate.

Sherry, it was good of you to remind people of the repeat of this forum.
Clearly some people are upset about it because their candidate stunk up the joint with his performance.
I was extremely upset that the PD never informed its readers of this forum the first time around. I don’t know where Mr. Townsend was on this or the news room or Gail Pennington. After seeing OBama’s performance, I could see why they didn’t want us to watch it. The PD is so transparent. Now we all know why Obama refused to do the townfall forum debates.

Ridiculous comment awards:

Leah, slamfist, beenthere.

Congrats…

Leah - look up civil, your ignorance is getting annoying.

slamfist - please do give up

beenthere - your the propogandist and it is innappropriate. The title is civil religion, a political forum on faith MUST BE ALLOWABLE HERE. Don’t act dumb. This is the DEFINITION of CIVIL and RELIGION.

Sometimes the blog on here is political, sometimes it is not. I post at the ones I want to and ignore the ones that have no interest for me. Is that so hard to do?

“Civil” refers to government and its interaction with “Religion”, not politically correct friendly banter where we all respect each others opinions.

I understand the low patience for politics these days, I get that way every 4 years when the Presidential race rolls around. But let’s not stop coming to this blog just because politics and religion tend to interwind…
