Carhart supports “abortionless” Pelosi health care bill

Dr. Leroy Carhart, controversial late-term abortion doctor, was spotted at the Pelosi/Reid unveiling Thursday of the final house health care bill. Dr. Carhart, currently under investigation by the Nebraska AG for unsafe medical practices, traveled to Washington and was photographed holding a sign which read “Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice”.

He was spotted by Concerned Women for America’s Wendy Wright who also snapped the photo.

According to LifeSite News,

Carhart is currently under investigation by the Nebraska Attorney General’s office after three of his former employees came forward with sworn affidavits that told of illegal activity, unsafe conditions.

All of the women said that they did not have any medical training or licensing, yet they were instructed to perform medical duties that they were not legally qualified to do, such as starting IVs, dispensing medication, and assisting with surgeries.

Bishops to Biden: F in science & church history

The USCCB has issued a statement correcting Senator Joseph Biden’s recent statements on Meet the Press:

September 10, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has released its second statement in just two weeks correcting a prominent Catholic politician who has caused scandal by publicly defending abortion.

This past Sunday, during an interview on Meet the Press, Democratic VP-nominee Sen. Joseph Biden responded to questions about when life begins by saying that he agreed with the Church that, as a matter of faith, life begins at the moment of conception. However, he then defended his pro-abortion voting record by saying that he would not “impose” his faith on others. He claimed that to do so would be “inappropriate in a pluralistic society.”

Bishops to Pelosi: Stop misrepresenting church teaching against abortion

Nancy Pelosi has gotten into hot water for misrepresenting Catholic Church teaching against abortion. Appearing on Meet the Press last Sunday, she said:

“I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time,” she said.

“And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition.

And Senator - St. Augustine said at three months. We don’t know,” she said…..

In a release issued Monday night, Washington, D.C.,  Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl said Pelosi’s comments on “Meet the Press” on Sunday “were incorrect.”

“We respect the right of elected officials such as Speaker Pelosi to address matters of public policy that are before them, but the interpretation of Catholic faith has rightfully been entrusted to the Catholic bishops. Given this responsibility to teach, it is important to make this correction for the record.”
