Results: A-i-T competition
The results are in from Opera Theatre of Saint Louis’s Artists-in-Training competition, held Sunday, April 20.
According to OTSL’s director of education, Allison Felter, the winners are:
Monsanto Award ($4,000) Collins O’Dwyer, Jennings HS senior
Huber Award ($1750) Ghislaine Angier, Home school junior
MacKay Award ($1500) Jennifer Wilson, University City HS senior
Maritz 1st prize ($1250) Nicola Loebl, Home school sophomore
2nd Prize ($1,000) Nathanael McClure, Lutheran South HS, senior
3rd Prize ($750) Julie McGinnity, Lindbergh HS, junior
4th Prize ($500) a tie: Gustavo Perez, Hazelwood West HS, senior and Chi Zeng, Clayton HS sophomore
Martina Arroyo Prize ($300) Marquise Murphy, Central Visual and Performing Arts HS, juniorAll 13 others received a $100 honorable mention. And as you might deduce from the Arroyo Award, this was a one-time award that materialized in the heat of having to make difficult choices. She insisted on recognizing Marquise for his work. He sang “Give Me Jesus” w/ as much emotion and connection as anyone his age could–it was VERY effective, and VERY moving!
