President Obama to throw out first pitch at All-Star game
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
From Rick Hummel, who is in Milwaukee to talk with baseball commissioner Bud Selig:
President Obama is going to throw out the first pitch at the All-Star game at Busch Stadium on July 14.
It will be the second time a U.S. President has thrown out a first pitch at Busch. George Bush did the honors in 2004 on Opening Day.
President Obama has not thrown out a first pitch yet in his term in office. Every president since William Howard Taft in 1910 has thrown on opening pitch at either an Opening Day, All-Star or World Series game.
He is the fourth to do it at an All-Star game. John F. Kennedy in 1962, Richard Nixon in 1970 and Gerald Ford in 1976.

Why not? I’m sure he’s got the arm for it. Hopefully the motorcade doesn’t keep people from getting to the game. He should stop in O’Connels for a burger too.
Better have a “code red” security alert status at the ballpark for this! Those fine folks from PETA are still upset over his savage killing of a house fly last week. They may try to settle the score on this fly killer!
I think this is great. Even though Obama is on his way to being one of the worst presidents ever, the St Louis fans wont boo. People will see why we are the classiest fans out there.
Oh mark…typical WASP comment. You probably voted for Bush…twice! The St. Louis fans won’t boo because we know Obama is the man!
The security to enter the game will be a nightmare. Everyone better plan on arriving WAY early.
I’ll skip that part on TV. Probably time to go get a cold frosty Bud.
Dee, actually Mark’s comment is of a typical MISSOURIAN, not a typical wasp. You may remember that Barry lost the state of Missouri. He breaks the tradition of Presidents throwing out opening day pitches, and instead waits till the all star game? Are Stan Musial, Red, or Ozzie Smith not good enough? The media love fest with Barry will now ascend upon Busch and take away from the st. louis city and fans. Plus the ridiculous security.
Maybe we can now have a tea party outside the stadium!
I think it’s pretty irresponsible for Obama to be throwing out the first pitch of the all star game, while simultaneously the VP Biden’s old company Haliburton is profiting on the Iraq War. Horrible.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I just want a president who does what he says and doesn’t react to polls or the people in general.
Why don’t Americans understand our government? It’s pretty simple, you elect a man and once elected, he does what he feels is best…not what the people feel, what he feels best. After elected, citizens have no say….it’s up to the president. I just want a guy in there who sticks to what he believes, because the people will waiver back and forth.
I voted for Bush twice, and while I didn’t agree with a lot of what he did, he stuck to his beliefs. I hope Obama does the same, and what happens after his four years rests on the people who voted for him. I don’t want a flip flop of a president. We will never get anywhere with that and the country will be worse off.
