How is Colby Rasmus not in this starting lineup? Another good day at the plate against the lefty Zito and he gets rewarded by sitting on the bench against a right hander with an ERA over 8. Chris Duncan has done absolutely nothing to merit the start tonight.

This is absolutely unbelievable. I can’t make any sense of playing Duncan. How he hasn’t become a bench player is beyond me. In the past 3 games Duncan has gone 0-8 with 3 strikeouts, compared to Rasmus’s 5-11 (.455 BA) with a pretty significant HR. LaRussa is a fine manager, and it’d be hard to imagine the Cardinals where they are without them, but common sense does need to come into play here. Duncan is struggling - he has been since May - and his glove is a liability in the field. Why sit the most consistent outfielder? The same case could be made for Thurston who has looked lost at the plate lately, but options at 3rd base are much more slim than the outfield.

Why not sit Duncan and play Rasmus? Please tell me someone other than Thurston can play 3rd…..He does alright defensively, but on offense it seems that everything he’s done since the end of April is strikeout and popout on the infield.

Nepotism lives in Cardinal nation. And Tony has a hard on for Thurston. The guy couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Duncan again? I actually thought they were show casing him until a month ago, when I realized that nobody else wants him. Too bad Mo lacks the gumption to tell Tony to sit Duncan and play Rasmus.

How can Rasmus not be in the lineup?

I have been a Cardinal fan for over 50 years and this Duncan situation is the worst case of favoritism I have ever seen. Has LaRussa lost his mind or what?? How in the world can Duncan be playing ahead of Rasmus??? I am so sick of this crap. Is he doing this just to show that he can do what he wants or is he just an over managing idiot who doesn’t want to make his pitching coach mad?????

So Colby sits while the two useless uniforms take up space in the outfield and add outs to the 2 and 5 holes. I don’t think “K” Ankiel and Duncanthit could touch Homer SIMPSON let alone Homer Bailey.

Thanks Tony. It’s nice to see you’re taking care of your son and Godson!

Lets not forget about Thurston in line-up. He is 1 for his last 11 and seems he is averaging about an error per game. Why is he still on major league roster? What other team would pick him up. Both him and Duncan need to be replaced on roster or Cards will continue to fight to stay above even mark.

I’ll get on the bandwagon and totally agree and ask, “Why in the world is Rasmus not in the lineup”. Here we are tied for first again and Tony throws Thurston and Duncan out there. Tony, Rasmus is batting .271, had a walk-off home run with a hit, and a hit last night. What has Duncan done? o for whatever his last seven or eight bats. What gives here. I would definately put T. Greene in the lineup until DeRosa is ready. A no brainer. We as fans see this and why does Tony continue this nonsense. I hope that Duncan and Thurston do well and we win. I say this because I am a die hard Cardinal fan. Anyway, I have had my say. GO CARDS…
