CINCINNATI _ While the St. Louis Cardinals are off Monday, injured infielder-outfielder Mark DeRosa will return to St. Louis to have his sprained left wrist re-examined. If he passes muster, DeRosa is expected to rejoin the team in Milwaukee in time for Tuesday night’s game but DeRosa, who has yet to take batting practice, is unsure exactly as to when he will be able to play again.

A guess would be Tuesday or Wednesday. DeRosa, nothing for nine as a Cardinal before hurting himself on a swing against San Francisco’s Randy Johnson last Tuesday, said, “I’d love to be out there and I’d love to be able to contribute. But it’s kind out of my control right now.”

DeRosa has been taking infield, throwing, running and hitting off a tee.
