CINCINNATI _ St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, after one of the most productive months of his career, has been named the National League’s Player of the Month for June, in voting done by media members.

Pujols hit a modest (for him) .320 in June but he tied his personal best of 14 home runs in the month and established a personal best of 35 runs batted in for the month.

He had three multi-homer games in June, giving him 30 for his career, and hit the ninth grand slam of his career, tying Stan Musial for first among Cardinals players. Pujols also reached the 30-homer plateau for the ninth season in a row. He has played just nine seasons in the majors.

Pujols will receive a 52-inch, high-definition television for winning the award.

Congrats Albert! But if you don’t want that TV I would be glad to take it from you… C Dunc needs AAA time

Just give him the MVP already. Also, he probably has a bigger TV. Sign it and auction it off.

Player of the month and his teammates reward him with a 12-17 record. Ankiel and Duncan are absolutely useless. They make watching games hard on the eyes.

Rick Ankiel is such a phenomenal athlete that he needs to take a year off and come back as a closer (as long as he is hitting like a pitcher).

I am very happy for Pujols; a gifted talent climaxing through a hard consistent work ethic.

Yes, the Cards may be tied for first place, but it just don’t feel like they are in first place, which takes some of the luster off of Pujols accomplishments. If the team plays better we can celebrate the individual awards with more of a celebrating passion. But I’ll bet Pujols would trade in the award for about twelve to fourteen more games in the win column.

All hail the king, he who makes bb fun in this city. Please get rid of Joe Thurston, this man has to leave right away. The following moves should be made asap. Glaus to third, Derossa to 2nd, Shumacker to right, Ludwick to left. Dunc, Ank, and Thurston need to be Memphis’s finest until the next injury. That is all.

Congrats Albert! Now, the rest of the team needs to buck up and help him out. Just think of where we would be if there rest of the team was hitting at last year’s levels… the Cards’ would be running away with the division.

Didn’t he get a TV when he won player of the month last time, too? Albert must have a ton of TVs at his house!
