CINCINNATI _ Shortstop Brendan Ryan, impressive both offensively and defensively but who has had trouble staying on the field lately for the St. Louis Cardinals, was a late scratch today, with rookie Tyler Greene replacing him and batting ninth.

Ryan was reported to have “gastrointestinal distress.”

all card fans also must be suffering gastrointestinal distress trying to fathom the depth of la russa’s mind. next he will probably bench albert and play duncan at first because he matches up better against this pitcher. play ludwick, bench thurston!

Duncan should not start the rest of the year. Ther is no jump starting him. Why wouldn’t you be giving Ludwick every AB in the world so he can be back to form. Ludwick’s upside is ten times greater than Chris Duncans. Even if you are balancing the lineup for 2nite, and Duncan got a few hits, your interfering with Ludwicks rhythm and bat, which will screw us in the most important aspect, getting Ludwick back to his old self, which will ultimately help us make the playofs. Perhaps the alterin of the Outfield lineups, and Ludwick sitting so often is why he can’t get in a rhythm. But hey, I’m no Tony!!!

Cards should of traded Ludwick last year when he had value. Duncan is in the line-up because of his father. Why is it that only now LaRussa discovered Rasmus should be playing everyday? Ankiel and Duncan couldn’t hit a 5yr old lefty. The only way Rasmus gets better is by playing everyday. He leads all rookies in HR’s and RBI’s but why would that be a reason to start him in the genius of TLR. Sad part is Cards need Ludwick to play even if he doesn’t play to last years production because they have no one else. They just want to make money by milking the All-Star game and the best player in baseball for all it’s worth

Does anyone else out there look forward to the day when we don’t have to put up with anymore spot starts by Brad Thompson. Is it just me or is it always a guaranteed loss.
