Matt Holliday out with bruised knee
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
From Joe Strauss in Milwaukee:
Matt Holliday bruised his left knee when he stumbled over first base on a ground ball in the third inning today against the Brewers.
He returned to the outfield for the fourth inning before being replaced by Rick Ankiel in the fifth.
Holliday had a sacrifice fly in the first inning to bring in the Cardinals’ first run.
The team said Holliday was being taken out just for precautionary measures.

Oh no! I hope mgmt isn’t playing down the injury…
Keeping the old fingers crossed. We need him BAD.
UGH! not now…we need him in October!
NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Get him a massage therapist, a chiropractor, an ice bag (no not a sexless old woman), whatever it takes, but get him back in the lineup.
Good thing we have a big enough lead in our division. We can rest him for a while.
PLEASE LET IT JUST BE A BRUISE.. Put some antibacterial stuff on it, give him an aspirin and make it go away. We need him and he has proven that.
Whatever they gave Rick Ankiel earlier this year when he scraped his arm….DON’T USE THAT STUFF!! Someone get him a school nurse or something, anything but the Cardinals Medical staff. I swear those guys use rust or something for bandages.
Can you all take a deep breath. He tripped and hit his knee, he is fine. And so what if he misses a game or two? That is not the kind of injury that keeps Matt Holliday out for a significant amount of time. He in not Troy Glaus (thank God).
Put Holliday on DL, move Schumacher to LF, Ryan to 2B, DeRosa to SS, and let me get some playing time at 3B. I will miss playing with these guys next year.
OOOOh….if he is hurt, maybe we can sign him cheaper!!!
