A missed chance in first for Cardinals
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Cards loaded the bases with no outs against Randy Wolf but wound up with only one run as Matt Holliday was called out on strikes after an intentional walk to Albert Pujols.
Ryan Ludwick’s fly to shallow center that dropped in produced one run but then Yadier Molina hit hard into a 1-4-6-3 double play to end it.
It was the 28th double play that Molina has hit into for the Cards this season, tops on the team. Albert Pujols is next with 23.
And so often seems to happen, the Dodgers took advantage of the break with two quick runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run homer by Matt Kemp off Chris Carpenter with no outs.

how does Holiday take 3 strikes right down the middle..sure didn’t make em pay for walking Pujols…geez..huge missed chance there
The worst part of Holliday striking out, was how bushleague he looked wanting to argue about it.
Mr.Holliday, you were just made to look like a fool, by taking three STRIKES (and none of them were borderline), and now you want to save face by blaming the umpire? Please…go grab some bench, and don’t embarrass yourself or the team any further.
