Adam Wainwright turned over a 2-1 lead to the Cardinals bullpen for the ninth after allowing just one run on three hits in eight innings only to see the Dodgers win it with two outs, thanks in part to a Matt Holliday error.

Los Angeles won 3-2 and leads the NLDS, 2-0.

Trever Miller got Andre Ethier to start the ninth, then Ryan Franklin replaced him to face Manny Ramirez, who flied out to center. It was the first postseason game with the Dodgers that Ramirez has gone hitless. James Loney then lined to left field but a charging Holliday couldn’t make the catch and Loney wound up on second. (Juan Pierre came in to run for him.) That left Casey Blake against Franklin. Blake walked to leave it for Ronald Belliard, who singled up the middle to tie the game at 2-2.

A wild pitch to Casey Martin put runners on second and third. Martin walked to load the bases and bring up pinch hitter Mark Loretta, who blooped a single to center for the winning run.

The series shifts to St. Louis for Game 3 on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Cardinals are over-hyped and over-matched in this series.

Crappy loss.

Franklin just doesn’t deliver in the clutch, that was a pitiful performance. Also bad managing by LaRussa - why pull a guy who is throwing a 3 hitter? Wainwright could and should have finished this game, and the series would be tied.

Holliday was probably thinking about his huge contract he’ll sign with the Yankees or Red Sox next year and couldn’t be distracted.

Holliday? Seriously? Where is Jimmy Baseball and his passion when you need it. Holliday was that jock in high school with a silver spoon who never failed. Well, welcome to the real world Matty H.

The Cards are just not looking as sharp as they were in August. Timing is everything.
