Ronald Belisario puts down Cards in order in sixth

It took until the top of the sixth, but the Cardinals and Dodgers just had their first 1-2-3 inning.
Dodgers reliever Ronald Belisario got three straight outs as Skip Schumaker, Brendan Ryan and Albert Pujols went down in order, all on groundouts.
Chris Carpenter is now out for the Cardinals with Dennys Reyes taking his place for the bottom of the inning.

I don’t understand why carpenter was not pinch hit for and i dont understand why Kyle was brought in. Why not bring in a starter who wont get a start this series instead of Kyle M. who stumbled down the stretch?
