Lohse to get Monday start for Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has decided most of his imminent pitching rotation.
La Russa said this morning that righthander Kyle Lohse, rained out in the second inning of his start against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night, would start against the Brewers again Monday night game here in the makeup of that rainout.
“He’s had two days’ rest. He feels fine,” said La Russa.’
That means that righthander Joel Pineiro will start on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs here, as originally had been drawn up. Wednesday? “Undecided,” said La Russa.
Asked if Chris Carpenter, healing from a torn left oblique muscle, might be the Wednesday’s starter, La Russa said, “He’s one of the guys who’s a possibility.”
Whoever pitches Wednesday doesn’t affect righthander Adam Wainwright’s next turn. Wainwright, a tough-luck 1-0 loser to Milwaukee on Saturday, will face Chicago Thursday, La Russa said.
