Brendan Ryan is “very limited” by swollen ankle
ST. LOUIS — Shortstop Brendan Ryan remained on the active roster with a golf ball-sized knot on his left ankle. While active, manager Tony La Russa said the shortstop was “very limited” when it came what he could do today and this weekend. GM John Mozeliak called the five-day estimate “very optimistic.” But the schedule, he added, is very forgiving.
With two days off approaching next week, the Cardinals have a chance to re-evaluate Ryan and bring up reinforcements if necessary. Ryan’s next checkpoint then would be Sunday when the Cardinals determine if he’s made enough progress to possible play in New York next week.
On having shortstop Khalil Greene in the ballpark and posed for activation this weekend, La Russa said: “It’s nice to have that kind of depth.”

I appreciate the information. However, for a small fee, I will proofread these entries before they are published.
Ok his ankle was very swollen after it was hit. I am thinking DL and they will back date it. This might happen on Tuesday.
So its the weekend and the reporters are off, so no news unless its from a wire service …… just my opinion I could be wrong and is written for entertainment only,,,,,
I hope he gets well soon, he has become a valued player. best shortstop STL Cards have
I consider myself and intelligent person. I feel that I have the ability to write well. I have NEVER cared about grammatical errors when I am reading the sports page, and I never will. Let’s get over ourselves people
SUCH AS ME JUST WRITING “AND INTELLIGENT PERSON!!!”
too funny
I hope our fans will give KGreene a big round of applause to support him. If he was battling even a mild form of cancer I know we would give him a standing O his first time up. He has no more control over what he’s battling now than he would if he had something like cancer.
I think Al’s initial thoughts were mine… you don’t have swelling like that and come back to reasonable mobility in a four or five days. I know from experience the swelling won’t go away completely for at least a week. Another injury being posed with rosy scenario. BR is gone for awhile. Just activate Kahlil and get it over with. Why does there always have to be so much drama around the team?
