CINCINNATI — It wasn’t that long ago that Texas Rangers second baseman and former University of Missouri baseball star Ian Kinsler led the fan vote at his position, with a slight edge over Boston Red Sox infielder and reigning AL MVP Dustin Pedroia. Kinsler went from leading the fan vote to now being left to the final fan vote — a four-day sprint of online voting that will determine the 33rd spot on both leagues’ rosters.
The five candidates for the final spot on the National League roster are:
- Cristian Guzman, Washington
- Matt Kemp, LA Dodgers
- Mark Reynolds, Arizona
- Pablo Sandoval, Giants
- Shane Victorino, Philadelphia
The five candidates for the final spot on the American League roster are:
- Chone Figgins, LA Angels
- Brandon Inge, Detroit
- Ian Kinsler, Texas
- Adam Lind, Toronto
- Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay
Voting will be conducted for the final spots over the next four days at MLB.com and on mobile phones that use the Spring network. Last year, 47.8 million votes were cast in the “Final Vote” process.
