Pineiro heading for 10th loss

CINCINNATI _ Joel Pineiro, who already had the major league lead in losses at nine, seemed headed for a 10th defeat tonight as the Cincinnati Reds pushed across two runs in the sixth inning to stretch a 1-0 lead built in the first to 3-0 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jerry Hairston’s third  sraight hit drove in Brandon Phillips in the sixth after Phillips had doubled home Willy Taveras.

While Pineiro was pitching respectably, as he has done most of the season, the Cardinals were doing nothing with righthander Homer Bailey, who allowed a single to Skip Schumaker to open the game and  then no hits afterward through six innings.

This is UNWATCHABLE. I am a lifelong Cards fan out in AZ spending $ to buy the MLB package to see my beloved cards, but this is pathetic. WHY IS RASMUS NOT PLAYING TONIGHT??? Always been a TLR supporter, but fading fast with his “baby gloves” handling of CR. The kid is good and is going to ONLY get better with playing time. Duncan and Rasmus need to be sent down or out.

This was exactly the kinda game they needed. Down 3 runs in the 8th inning. Grand slam gives us the lead. We give it up in their at bat only to come back in the ninth. Hopefully they will change their ways from give up and wait for Pujols to we all can do it. Time will tell. But as much as I liked Pujols’s home run, I liked the others kicking in for the win in the ninth inning.
