Pujols terrorizing Giants

San Francisco pitchers will be especially glad to not have to face Albert Pujols again this season.

After being called out on strikes in the third inning, the Cardinals slugger is batting .600 (12-20) with four home runs against Giant pitching this season. Even more impressively, two of those came at cavernous AT&T Park. In the first inning tonight, Pujols received his third intentional walk in two games (It’s worth noting that Ryan Ludwick has reached base all three times in the following at-bat). At this point that’s really a no-brainer with men on and first base open.

Meanwhile, for one day at least, Colby Rasmus got more headlines than Pujols after hitting the first walk-off home run by a St. Louis rookie since 1983. The crowd gave him a larger cheer when the lineups were announced today, and he may have had a few extra autograph seekers.

Rasmus said he didn’t read any of the numerous stories proclaiming him a hero, and when asked how he felt the day after the biggest home run, his answer was short and to the point.

“No different,” he said. “You’ve still got to play.”
