NEW YORK — Cardinals right fielder Ryan Ludwick added further proof of his revitalized season Tuesday when the National League named him its Player of the Month for July. Ludwick earned the honor by hitting .340 with six home runs and a league-leading 28 RBI. The Cardinals have become league darlings for the honor, since first baseman Albert Pujols received the award in April and June.

Ludwick enters tonight’s series opener against the New York Mets with hits in 20 of his last 26 games. He was named NL Co-Player of the Week for July 6-12, when he smoked four home runs and 15 RBI within a 481 average.

Ludwick hit .186 in May and .200 in June while dealing with a hamstring strain. Ludwick returned from the disabled list without a rehab assignment and managed only 18 RBI for the two months combined. Ludwick improved his overall average from .233 to .268. Ludwick also amassed a .966 on-base/slugging percentage for the month.

You’ve heard of Ryan Ludwick, the July NL Player of the Month. He’s the guy who keeps getting platooned with Rasmus and Ankiel for the other 2 OF spots.
What does it take for LaRussa to wake up and realize this is a guy who should be playing every day?

Player of the month and TLR doesn’t even play him everyday! What is TLR thinking?

jw - So what? He played enough to garner NL Player of the Month! Another negative comment in light of good news. What’s next? Pujols is named MVP in November, but some people are goint to say, “Yeah, but he barely hit over the Mendoza Line for two weeks after the all-star game.” Tony… thanks for playing Luddy enough to win this award.

In my mind I would rather see Holiday hitting in front of Pujols and Ludwick behind Pujols. Ludwick has hit for more power over 2008 & 2009 seaons, I would love to see a guy hit .320 in fromt of Pujols so he could drive him in. Maybe switching things up can get Pujols goign again.

And yet he still sits out the most of any outfielder most of the time… somebody’s gonna have to explain this to me

What’s better…

Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen or Pujols, Holliday, Ludwick?
