Pujols, after surgery: “Can’t wait to see you in Jupiter”
ST. LOUIS — In a release distributed via his agent’s office, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols acknowledges that he played with discomfort in his right elbow this season and also states that a ligament reconstruction was not needed to correct what ails his elbow.
The entirety of Pujols’ statement, as relayed by a representative of his agent’s office:
I want to thank all of my fans who reached out to the Pujols Family Foundation wishing me well. I have said throughout my whole career the best fans in the world are right here in St. Louis, and your support means a great deal to me and my family.
Yesterday, I flew down to Alabama accompanied by our team physician, Dr. Paletta, to meet with Dr. Andrews for a checkup on my elbow. After their evaluation, they determined that my ligament was completely healthy and there were a few bone spurs that were causing my discomfort during the season — which have been removed. Can’t wait to see you all in Jupiter, and God bless.

Derrick Goold said he was going to Mizzou for capital-J journalism, but after growing up in the Time Zone Baseball Forgot he was really drawn to MU sitting between two major-league cities. Goold joined the Post-Dispatch in 2001 after working for The Times-Picayune and Rocky Mountain News, covering sports from LSU to NHL and every level of baseball in between.
Sounds good to me. ’nuff said.
I agree. Good news… Enough said…
I am sure the conspiracy theorist will come out of the wood work at any moment. Sound to me like an athlete/man who has just has the weight of the world lifted off his back. Means he can now go to spring training without worrying about pain for the first time in perhaps 5 or 6 years. Would you not be happy in the same situation. GO PUJOLS.
If Pujols doesn’t want to resign, can we trade him for Ryan Howard?
Tom. You’re a FREAKIN IDIOT!
I agree. good news!

“Ligament was completely healthy”? That would be even better news, but we’ll take what we can get. Welcome Back to the best player our team has ever seen!
Albert would be good for .290/20 hr/85 RBI’s hitting ONE armed.

Best player our team has ever seen? Are you an idiot or just ignorant? There is at least 1 better player to have been a Cardinal, and maybe up to 5 additional contenders.
Best Cardinal of all-time….John Costello…nuff said.
Anyone who writes nuff said is a douche bag!
Stan the Man’s numbers kick #5’s all day and twice on Sundays.
Anyone who says twice on Sundays is a douche bag!
