Mezzo-soprano Susan Graham will have CD signing in an unusual venue
Mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, who will perform this Friday and Saturday nights with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, has some unusual St. Louis connections.
Her travel agent for the last two decades has been Beth Yarus of TravelMasters, Inc., on New Ballas Road, just south of Olive. In fact, Graham is the “godmother” of Yarus’s dog, Sophie la Divina.
That friendship led to Graham’s meeting Mike Harris of Eyewearhaus, 745 New Ballas, whose glasses Graham admired and then acquired. Mike’s wife Wendy is a glass artist of a different sort; Graham wears some of her pieces, too.
And that led to the venue for this Wednesday’s combined eyeglasses trunk show and CD signing — Eyewearhaus. Graham is coming in a day early, before she’s needed for rehearsals at Powell Symphony Hall. So she, Yarus and Harris arranged the unusual midday event.
Graham will be at the store, modeling glasses, meeting fans and signing copies of her new CD, “Un Frisson Francais: A Century of French Song,” from noon to 2. (She might even do some singing.) It promises to be a lot of fun.
