The St. Louis Art Museum will open “Ansel Adams in Yosemite” June 12 in Gallery 321. The nine images were taken by the popular photographer and founder of the Sierra Club between 1933 and 1958. Adams first visited the Yosemite valley in 1916, and he made many of his iconic images there. The photographs have been chosen by curator Eric Lutz from two portfolios Adams assembled in the early 1960s: “Portfolio III, Yosemite Valley” and “Portfolio IV, What Majestic Word.” The photographs are on loan to the museum from Doris and David Lichtenstein.
