Cliburn notes: Quote of the Day
FORT WORTH - From an interesting and entertaining talk on the stage of Bass Hall, by conductor James Conlon, who’s leading the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in the concerto rounds of the Cliburn piano competition:
“Our society puts most of its emphasis on material goods, but material goods are limited… (I wish society would) put more emphasis on spiritual values, intellectual values, human values. Love, friendship, devotion - they have no limits. Art deals in those values, and expresses them in a special way. Music goes into the areas where words cannot suffice, and lives them.”
