Orchestras: Now it’s Boston’s turn

Yet another of the country’s biggest and most prestigious orchestras has announced staff cutbacks. This time, it’s the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The Boston Globe reports that ten staff positions in departments that include development and public relations have been cut. That represents 5.3% of the nonmusical staff; it follows a staff hiring freeze last December, and the cancellation, in April, of a European tour in 2010.
