Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ production of Richard Strauss’s Salome got a lot of attention last summer.

Now the production is open in San Francisco, and it’s getting even more. It has a new cast; from the sound of it, they’re missing soprano Kelly Kaduce’s amazing portrayal of the title role, but appreciating baritone Greer Grimsley as Jochanaan.

Here are links to the reviews in the San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, and San Francisco Examiner

Also making a hit: St. Louis’s Christine Brewer’s recital last week in New York, in a review by Steve Smith entitled “Power, Eroticism and Wit.”

Brewer was partnered by pianist Craig Rutenberg. Money quote: “Ms. Brewer was in radiant voice from the start, with glorious high notes and rich, resonant lows.”

like a great trip. May be by the time you get back..work will be
underway on Kiel Opera House..which is also well known in London..
as a singular place for the staging and enjoyment of grand opera.
