Adrian Orange at White Flag Projects
Sometimes it seems that White Flag Projects has taken the little engine that could as its role model. Director Matt Strauss has scheduled a busy weekend of free activities. In addition to the earlier announced afternoon of car customization by New York artist Steve Powers (that’s 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 16), he has added a concert by Adrian Orange to the weekend festivities. Orange, from Portland, Oregon, will be joined by Fancie of Sacramento and Berlin and Painter Fabel from St. Louis Sunday night (May 17). Music starts at 9 p.m., doors open at 8. Strauss describes Orange, frontman for the band Thanksgiving, as creating a “avant-folk” sound, falling somewhere between a “Beat blues singer and an indie-pop sage.”
