2 Elles play St. Louis in ‘Legally Blonde’
Two actresses, Laura Bell Bundy and Lauren Ashley Zakrin, will switch off in the starring role of Elle Woods when “Legally Blonde” plays the Fox (Jan. 20-Feb. 1).
Both of the actresses have plenty of experience with the part. Bundy originated the role on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony for her performance. Zakrin was one of the finalists on the MTV reality series “Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods.”
Up until last Thursday, Becky Gulsvig starred in the touring production. Then she broke her toe, an injury that will keep her out of the show for six weeks. Producer Mike Isaacson said that under the circumstances, “we are extremely fortunate to have these two amazingly talented actresses, who know this role inside and out, ready at a moment’s notice.”
At this point, the Fox doesn’t know which actress will appear at which performances.
I sure hope when I see it, I get Laura Bell. I didn’t think Lauren has the chops to do the part.
I hope to see Laura too. Although, Lauren was my favorite on the MTV show so she would be ok too.
Though both young ladies are wonderful, my fingers are crossed for Laura Bell Bundy on opening night. It would be fun to see the actress who originated the role on Broadway on the Fox stage.
