Trivia Night helps Echo Theatre
Echo Theatre Company had a huge fund-raising success last Saturday, when its first-ever Trivia Night raised over $8600.
The games at Theatre 134 - Echo’s sleek new home in the ArtSpace at Crestwood Court - drew more than 200 players, including plenty of supporters from other theater troupes (the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Stages St. Louis, Upstream, the NonProphets, Muddy Waters, etc.) Actress Donna Weinsting made a wild emcee, while actress Julie Venegoni worked the room, selling raffle tix. Actor Ben Nordstrom reports the top overheard remark of the night: “If a bomb went off in this building, there would be no theater in St. Louis for five years.”
Echo plans to make its Trivia Night an annual event. On the nearer horizon, it opens its next show, an outrageous satire called “The Secretaries,” at Theatre 134 on Sept. 25. Directed by Echo topper Eric Little, it stars Lavonne Byers, Colleen Backer, Julie Layton, Sara Renschen and Amanda Wilford.
