Lipkin play wins honor
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
“The Date,” a play by Joan Lipkin, has been chosen for “The Best Short Plays: 2006-07,” an anthology to be published by Applause Books next year. Plays by Murray Schisgal, Neil LaBute, John Guare and Quincy Long are in the anthology, too. “The Date” has been produced a number of times, including once at Washington University.
The artistic director of That Uppity Theatre Company, Lipkin has had work included in the annual anthology before. Her play ”Crab Cakes” appears in the 2005-06 edition.
Lipkin is currently working on “The State of Marriage,” a play to be produced with the St. Louis Actors’ Studio in June 2010. She is also adapting “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” from a disability perspective.
