Sen. Bond recovers from shoulder surgery
WASHINGTON—Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond, R-Mo., isn’t one to pull any punches. But don’t expect the battle-ready Bond to be dealing his foes any major blows in the coming weeks, at least not literally.
That’s because state’s senior senator just underwent major shoulder surgery at the Bethesda Naval Hospital outside Washington. The procedure, called Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty and performed on Friday, was successful and he expects to be back at work this week, according to his office. But he will not be able to travel for several weeks.
The surgery comes nearly a year after Bond was hit by a car as he took a morning walk before going to his Senate office. “This car accident injured Bond’s left shoulder more than originally thought,” the statement said.
Even as he recovers, Bond signaled he’ll be as fiesty as ever in the political arena. He said he was in high spirits after the operation and promised to continue his crusade for terrorist surveillance legislation that has bollixed up this Congress.
