Web Watch: Electorate Idol
Here’s your morning dose of web politics. These are pure parody — and have a bit of PG-13 language and satire.
Maybe it’s a dream competition. Or maybe it’s your worst nightmare.
First posted at Aniboom.com, here’s a look at a titanic clash looming between Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama – this one not in the states but on an American Idol stage. Apparently, in the anime world, neither senator can sing worth a hoot.
And yes, this is all fun and games, but given the ever-increasing celebrity nature of this year’s Democratic primary contest, perhaps these videos touch a nerve. The comments section of each video has drawn some heated back-and-forth between YouTube denizens. No surprise, but folks out there in the Internet ether are apparently paying at least a bit of attention.
Obama’s “performance” is one of the hottest videos being watched right now. Since it was added yesterday, it’s racked up almost 200,000 hits.
Clinton’s “turn” was posted more than a week ago and has drawn a bit less attention.
I guess we’re still waiting to see whether GOP Sen. John McCain has the pipes.
